We decided to do a trial and see how it went. Jackson had 2 private lessons, got a Gi, and the chance to earn his white belt. He learned a few moves his first lesson, also the 3 kinds of concentration (eyes, mind & body) and the most important people to show respect to (parents & family). He brought home a paper to keep track of showing respect and actions demonstrating self discipline.
His second lesson was today, learning more moves, focus and even got to break a wooden board. He earned his white belt. After a bow his instructor draped his belt around his neck and proudly shook his hand. He was quite proud of his accomplishment. I'm glad he enjoyed it so much. He officially starts next week. Two classes per week and if he sticks with it, can have his black belt in about 3 years (which would be awesome!).
